This Aging Insights program focuses on music and its many benefits. Melissa Chalker, NJFA Program Manager talks with three guests who explain the emotional, cognitive and physical benefits of listening and performing music. There is much research suggesting that music is healing to the mind and body. The guests on this episode are, Mary Anne Ross of UMDNJ’s COPSA Institute for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders, Karen Kowalski, of UMDNJ’s Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions, Occupational Therapy Assistant Program and Edie Elkan, Founding Director of Bedside Harp. The audience gets the special treat of a harp performance by Edie.
